Follow Northampton is a new heritage project being run by Sabine Coady-Schaebitz, Director of the Collaborative Centre for the Built Environment, and Dr Drew Gray, Senior Lecturer in History, both based at Park Campus.
Current examples of buildings already on the site were shown in a briefing session on Thursday 6th November, the link as follows:

For this assignment you are being asked to provide text, photographs and other materials (e.g. CAD work) which would be suitable for uploading onto the website for specific buildings. Depending on the size and complexity of the buildings (you will be provided with a range to choose from), you will research either two or three buildings.
Assignment materials required
The required material will be as follows for each building:
- c.600 words
- 2 x good-quality photographs
- 1 x CAD drawing of a main elevation or other feature, worthy of note
The key requirements within the building text are:
- What the building is
- Its date
- Architect
- Uses(s)
- History (association with an event, person or organisation)
- Construction and materials (is it a single-phase build or over many years?)
- Protected status
- Other notable points of history
You should also include references confirming sources used:
- books
- articles
- websites
- trade directories
- historic newspapers
- Listed building descriptions
- almanacs
- historic maps and plans
- building plans
- documents
- historic photographs
- auction documents
- census returns
This is to ensure that you do not re-use material which is not historically inaccurate – e.g. through no fault of your own, finding material on the internet which is not accurate.
