Although I only had two hours sleep the night before I was very excited and was really looking forward to the trip, mainly because I really needed a break after all the work from 2nd year.
The construction of the cathedral was commissioned by Antonio da Saluzzo in 1385. It was supported by the first duke of Milan, Gian Galeazzo Visconti who have the vision of creating the world's largest church. Construction commenced in 1386, and work did drag out for centuries. The final finishes to the cathedral was applied late 1965.
Over the years there was a variety of different master builders involved with the project from the initial design and they continuously developed the design to make the cathedral even more spectacular. So if you're ever in Milan I would definitely recommend to try and visit this amazing cathedral.
