- English Walnut and South American Cypress are the types of wood used for majority of the furniture throughout the building for example the desks and tables, bookshelves, etc. They have the same tables and chairs which were made for the building when it was first open.
- Travetine Marble was used for flooring which also has a high quality finish and seems very durable.
- There have also been some modern interventions introduced to the building for example, there was this room which was used to help preserve some books or some other materials, but because there wasn’t a lot of natural light in the room the glass has to keep the room lit well without too much artificial light.
- Also there have been some UV Panels added to some of the windows as some of the windows had a lot of light coming into the building, a lot of which were close to exhibition spaces.
Overall I was fascinated with the level of craftsmanship and how so much of the original features of the building have been preserved and kept to such a good condition. For visitors I think its incredibly important because it allows them to view and reflect on the architectural features which was created such a long time ago. The building holds great architectural history as for its time it was incredibly sophisticated, in terms of design and construction methods.
