I'm also wanting to use composite cladding panels to create a series of pentagons which will be on the outer, this is mainly down to visual purposes i believe this will help my pod stand out and make it a lot more interesting. Also as the pod consists of a lot of glass this will also help control the sunglight and also help to reduce the glare to a level. There are two main problems I will face which is the panels will have to be lightweight and also how i fix the cladding panels so they don't get blown away from the wind.
So after analysing all three ideas thoroughly and also from the feedback provided from our first pin up session it was very clear that my fellow colleagues and I felt that the Pentagon concept has the most potential. So I therefore then started to use Sketchup (3D Program) to develop this concept further. The concept will consist mainly of sheets of glass, as the glass will be exposed to the natural environment (rain, wind, etc) I will have a problem ensuring the space remains warm. So instead of using the existing buildings ventilation system I will use triple glazed glass which is designed to be energy efficient. Also i want to keep the structural elements to be minimal I am considering to use a spider fitting system.
