3D Max is one of the best software's available for modelling and rendering hence why we have been introduced to it. Its very flexible in terms of importing models from different programmes such as Revit. As you maybe aware I enjoy using Revit as I have been using it for a while now and I am able to use it fairly confidently.
So we started of by simply importing a standard default Revit project into 3D max. We were given a quick tour of the 3D Max layout and keys to help us understand the different commands, I remember one of the reasons why I didn't like the software was because there was so many keys and seemed complex, we also managed to set up the NIVIDIA render engine which helps produce better quality renders and provides us with greater choice of materials.
We then started creating key frame sets and moved parts of our building around to create this so called 'exploded animation' effect. I remember our lecturer showing us this last year and I was completely blown away as he made it look very easy and effortless.
After doing this in class by myself it really wasn't as hard as I thought it would be because all you have to do is move the objects where you want them to be and press the Auto Key mode and it creates every scene for you. After this lesson I realised £D max wasn't as complicated as I though it would be after you learn the basic commands, I'm definitely looking forward to the next lesson coming up the next couple of weeks. So above is a video which shows what the outcome of the lesson was.
